River Monsters returns April 7th, 2013 with Season 5 on Animal Planet (Video announcement by Jeremy Wade)

I have some great news to share, River Monsters : Season 5 will officially begin on Sunday, April 7th, 2013. The premiere will air at 9pm (EST) on Animal Planet. This season will surely deliver some great action considering the previous 4 seasons they have to live up to.

The 5th season will be creepy, dangerous and mysterious as ever. Jeremy will be traveling to Nicaragua searching for a killer torpedo, New England and the Pacific Northwest for vampires of the deep, and the abandoned areas of the Ukraine for an atomic assassin. It all leads up to the season finale where Jeremy tackles one of the world’s great water legends ever.

This series is compelling, informative, and oftimes just thrilling. It’s not often that someone actually has the cameras rolling while crashing a plane into the Amazonian rainforest. Just an amazing show.

The plane crash you refer to, Boyce, actually happened during the filming of another series Jeremy did called Jungle Hooks:Amazon in 2002. They took clips from that series and did a couple of “specials”. They are avaliable, sometime, through AmazonUK.com….you’ll need an all-region dvd player if you don’t live in the UK. Watching the director’s cut for season five made me wonder-what happened to his sleeve?

So what the heck happened to this last season. Was it like 6 episodes and 1 was a recap. I love RM but is the show dead? 6 episode is too abrupt, it leads me to believe they are running out of potential shows. Anyone actual know why the short season or care to speculate?

Yup last season really only featured a couple new fish. Some were the same species, like the Ray. I wonder what they’ll do for season 6, if anything. They are really low on options here, I mean he went for the Loch Ness Monster last season which was slightly comical in a sense. I am curious if they should reformat the show, lose the killer stories and just go for monsters as the shows title suggests.
